Often I see teahcers playing math games in the hallways as students wait to transition, I've seen classrooms where students sign out the time they leave to go to the restroom and then sign the time back in upon return. I have also heard teachers taking that teachable momoent in any content area to reinforce or make note of something they have learned in math.Margiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09980476558978625133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868358749457978092.post-28660785058451017142013-02-25T13:04:43.685-08:002013-02-25T13:04:43.685-08:00I use math with my groups throughout. When they compare their scores from a game they played or how much money they have. In social studies we use timelines and find differences on different dates that subjects occur. Other subjects math does come into play. Math is everywhere and I hope that students can transfer it to their real life events.Staceyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03303516806202175161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868358749457978092.post-71478811899169105192013-02-13T18:24:01.271-08:002013-02-13T18:24:01.271-08:00I think this is such a great example of the real l...I think this is such a great example of the real life math that gets children excited. But if you highlight the problem solving, especially anything multi-step, it relates to what we are working on in math- thinking thru problems.Mrs. Borghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05241807785735222981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868358749457978092.post-34181808869534545912013-01-18T11:19:42.934-08:002013-01-18T11:19:42.934-08:00Math learning in my room comes all during the day ...Math learning in my room comes all during the day because we play the Stock market Game. High levels of math are necessary for the students to be able to make calculations and predictions. The reading of graphs is essential and they have learned a lot more than fifth grade math while doing this program.bbarbleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12354266520973903685noreply@blogger.com
